Sunday News:

Northwestern vs. Purdue - 5:00 pm ET - Big Ten Network

Big Apple Buckets has five thoughts from the Tigers' victory over Columbia.

Princeton recruit Spencer Weisz and Seton Hall Prep came out on top in the Essex County Tournament finals.

Otto Porter was sensational for Georgetown (21-4), scoring a career high 33 points and silencing a crowd of 35,012 as the Hoyas won their final trip to the Carrier Dome as a member of the Big East 57-46 over Syracuse. Hoya Prospectus is happy to crunch numbers that equalled an end to the Orange's 38 game home winning streak.

Albany topped Fairfield (17-12) by eight.

Richmond (16-11) came out on top 72-55 at Fordham.

A shot from Ahmad Starks did not drop at the buzzer as Cal escaped 60-59 at Oregon State (13-15).

Denver (18-8) made it seven straight, 63-57 at Northern Iowa.

Purdue hosts Northwestern in the day's only game involving a Carril Cradle squad.

Around the Ivy League: Harvard (17-7 / 9-1) outscored Yale (11-16 / 5-5) by nine in the final eight minutes of a 72-66 Crimson victory. Check this out: Columbia (11-13 / 3-7) went without a field goal the final 15:17 of the second half and still beat Penn (7-19 / 4-5) by a 58-41 final. The Lions were 2-20 from the field, 19-22 at the line as the Quakers made 16.7% of their own attempts. Brown (10-14 / 4-6) topped Dartmouth (6-18 / 2-8) in Providence, 59-50.

Lots of games to choose from on this action packed Saturday! Fairfield hosts Albany and Denver plays at Northern Iowa to bookend the day with BrackBuster contests. In-between Richmond visits Fordham, Georgetown has a huge one at #8 Syracuse and Oregon State holds a Senior Night tilt versus Cal.

Around the Ivy League: Harvard (16-7 / 8-1) topped Brown (9-14 / 3-6) in Providence, 65-47. Behind a career high 29 from freshman guard Tony Hicks, Penn (7-18 / 4-4) trumped Cornell (13-13 / 5-4) with a 79-71 final. Yale (11-15 / 5-4) won 78-67 over Dartmouth (6-17 / 2-7).

Around the Ivy League: Cornell (13-12 / 5-3) won 69-66 at Brown (9-13 / 3-5). Yale (10-15 / 4-4) had an easy 75-56 time versus Columbia (10-12 / 2-6). Penn (6-18 / 3-4) came from down 30-18 midway through at Dartmouth (6-16 / 2-6), outscoring the Big Green 49-27 in the final 20 minutes.

Future Tiger Steven Cook and New Trier fell in a battle for the CSL South conference title versus Maine South.

Well, well, well. Georgetown (19-4) now sits alone atop the Big East table after gutting out a 62-55 win at Cincinnati.

Games on the docket include Richmond hosting St. Bonaventure, Denver traveling to San Jose State and Oregon State visiting Washington.

Around the Ivy League: Harvard (14-7 / 6-1) blocked a program record 15 shots, Kenyatta Smith came one rebound away from a triple double and the Crimson topped Penn (5-18 / 2-4) by a 73-54 final. Cornell (12-12 / 4-3) got even overall with a 68-61 win at Yale (9-15 / 3-4). Behind a career high 27 from Matt Sullivan, Brown (9-12 / 3-4) defeated a Brian Barbour-less Columbia (10-11 / 2-5) side, 58-55.

Richmond (14-11) could not sustain a nine point halftime lead and fell 61-55 at St. Joe's.

For the first time in the past six contests, Oregon State (13-12) won a game decided by eight points or less. The Beavers topped Washington State, 67-66.

Shorthanded Northwestern visits Ohio State, Fairfield hosts Siena and Denver travels to Utah State tonight.

More bad luck for Northwestern as Jared Swopshire will miss the rest of the season (and end his collegiate career in the process) due to a knee injury that required surgery.

Big Apple Buckets checks in on the Ivy League.

Princeton recruit Henry Caruso and Serra bested St. Francis in the first round of the WCAL tournament.

Mercer (18-8) defeated Morris, 56-51. Mustafa El-Amin had 21 points for the Vikings.

Their first game of the season on campus did not go as planned for Fairfield (15-11), who found themselves down 34-13 at halftime and never challenged Manhattan in a 62-40 loss.

Tonight Richmond visits St. Joe's and Oregon State travels to Washington State.

Yale (8-14 / 2-3) grabbed 21 offensive rebounds in an 68-59 win at Penn (4-17 / 1-3). Dartmouth (6-13 / 2-3) surprised Columbia (9-10 / 1-4) in New York by three.

Nate Lubick had 16 points and 10 rebounds in a 68-56 Georgetown victory over St. John's. The triumph was #200 for John Thompson III as the Hoyas' head man.

Richmond (14-9) fended off Xavier at home, 73-71.

Before you settle in to watch the Big Game there's always Oregon State at Stanford.

Around the Ivy League: Is Harvard (12-6 / 4-0) a "team of destiny" or reaching Johnny Storm levels of fire-play? Brown (8-10 / 2-2) came from 22 down with 11:27 minutes to go, got to overtime courtesy a Sean McGonagill shot at the horn but could not take the lead in either of the two overtimes that followed as the Crimson survived 89-82. Errick Peck was 8-8 from the floor and Galal Cancer scored with 10 seconds to go as Cornell (10-11 / 2-2) won 71-69 over Penn (4-16 / 1-2) at The Palestra. Dartmouth (5-13 / 1-3) reached the win column in conference, 71-62 versus Yale (7-14 / 1-3). The Big Green connected on 22-24 free throws.
