Ian Hummer is one of 40 players to earn Honorable Mention AP All-American status.

Hummer is also on the Big Apple Buckets All-MET squad's first team.

Kareem Maddox returned from an injury with another double-double.

Will Venable took home the Chairman's Award for Community Service at the San Diego Padres' awards dinner.

More bad luck for Northwestern as Jared Swopshire will miss the rest of the season (and end his collegiate career in the process) due to a knee injury that required surgery.

Big Apple Buckets checks in on the Ivy League.

Princeton recruit Henry Caruso and Serra bested St. Francis in the first round of the WCAL tournament.

Mercer (18-8) defeated Morris, 56-51. Mustafa El-Amin had 21 points for the Vikings.

Their first game of the season on campus did not go as planned for Fairfield (15-11), who found themselves down 34-13 at halftime and never challenged Manhattan in a 62-40 loss.

Ian Hummer shares the latest Ivy League Player of the Week honors. For those of you keeping score at home that's three solo awards and a pair of split awards this season for the Princeton senior. Both times Hummer has been Co-POW the other recipient has been Harvard's Wesley Saunders.

The Daily Princetonian summarizes the Tigers' victories over Cornell and Columbia.

Fairfield (14-10) won their fourth straight, 64-54 at Siena.

The Stags will host Albany in a BracketBuster game on February 23rd while Denver will travel to Northern Iowa the same day.

One reporter wishes more professional athletes were like Will Venable.

Yesterday outfielder Will Venable signed a one year deal with San Diego, avoiding arbitration in the process.

Georgetown (12-3) forward Greg Whittington has been officially declared academically ineligible. Without their second leading scorer, the Hoyas went out and opened up as large as a 23 point lead in a 74-65 victory over Providence.

Butler beat Richmond (11-7) by 15 at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Northwestern travels to Illinois, Denver hosts San Jose State and Oregon State plays at UCLA.

The sensational senior guard C.J. McCollum scored 35 for Lehigh, victors versus Fairfield (2-2) by an 82-67 final. The Stags stay in Bethlehem to meet Fordham this evening on the last day of the preseason NIT consolation round.

I'm trying to find out exactly what happened (Google Translate only gets you so far), but it appears Douglas Davis was cut/released by the Walter Tigers.

A late three pointer gave Fairfield a two point exhibition win over Bridgeport.

Richmond's pressure was too much for Randolph-Macon.

Thursday News:

Find of the week goes to Brian Earl for this scouting report his father gave him of Rutgers' attempts to prepare for Bill Bradley and the rest of the 1964-1965 Princeton Tigers. Of course, Bradley scored 35 points in this game and the orange and black led by 27 at halftime. So much for scouting reports!

The Padres' season concluded last night with a 7-6 win at Milwaukee. For the year Will Venable hit .264 in 148 games (equalling his career high) with 26 doubles, eight triples, nine home runs and 24 stolen bases. His strikeout/game ratio also dropped for the third straight season.
