Selection Sunday News:

Welcome to Selection Sunday, where Northwestern is playing the waiting game.

Georgetown is hosting a free party today where you can watch the bracket's reveal with the team.

Based on a pair of late night results I've made some additional adjustments to my second round of NIT projections that were posted yesterday evening. If Princeton is heading to the CBI or CIT instead, you'll want to keep a constant eye here for opponents and potential matchups.

Will Venable is making his case.

We'll be back tonight with information on where all the Carril Cradle and Ivy League teams are headed. I hope you remembered to set your clocks ahead one hour!

Friday News:

Friday, March 9th
Oregon State (9) vs. Arizona (4) - 9:10 pm ET - Pac-12 Tournament - FSN

Up four with the ball twice in the final three minutes, Northwestern (18-13) went scoreless the rest of regulation and in an agonizing overtime were doubled up by Minnesota at the Big 10 Tournament. The 75-68 defeat likely ruins the Wildcats' hopes for an NCAA Tournament at-large entry.

Georgetown (23-8) dropped a double OT thriller to Cincinnati, 72-70. Five missed free throws were costly to the Hoyas. Our friends at Hoya Prospectus crunch the numbers.

If you had Oregon State (19-13) as the last member of the Carril Cradle still playing come Friday, please raise your hand. The Beavers built a 13 point halftime lead and then had to come from eight back to stun top seed Washington by a pair at the Pac-12 Tournament. Robinson said this result might be the biggest win he's had, including his playing days.

The career of Doug Davis and Princeton's season are both on hold, but the Tigers certainly finished strong.

It appears Judson Wallace is suffering from gastroenteritis.

Wallace's college teammate Will Venable doubled off of the Rangers' Yu Darvish in his first major league outing. After the game Venable - who is striving for more consistency from his swing this year - and Darvish had decidedly different views of this hit.

The senior season of Princeton recruit Edo Lawrence concluded with Canterbury's loss in the New England Tournament's quarterfinal round.

Future Tiger Mike Washington, Jr. ended the year as WESCO 3A's second leading scorer.

Big Apple Buckets has updated their NIT projections. This coverage even made the Wall Street Journal. Nicely done, mister.

After initially being placed on paid administrative leave, former Princeton and Georgetown assistant Robert Burke officially resigned as head coach of Mount St. Mary's.

Thursday News:

Utah vs. Oregon State - 10:00 pm ET

Down by double digits for most of the night, Northwestern (17-12) staged a ferocious rally against #10 Ohio State. Alex Marcotullio's deep three pointer from the top of the key tied the game at 73 in the waning moments as Welsh-Ryan Arena went berserk. Jared Sullinger spun inside to put the Buckeyes up once more with three ticks remaining and in his final regular season home game John Shurna's half court shot caught only the front of the rim at the buzzer. It was devastating. The Wildcats were outrebounded 44-18.

I can't lie - I was so nervous when I got home late in the second half I couldn't bring myself to watch until the final 20 seconds.

Richmond (16-15) knocked off Dayton on Senior Night, 82-71.

In a meeting between former Tigers of different generations, Judson Wallace scored eight points and grabbed eight rebounds as FC Barcelona defeated the Dave Blatt-coached Tel Aviv side in a Euroleague match. Both teams will advance to the playoff rounds, with Wallace's team going undefeated.

Now on his fourth hitting coach, Will Venable is looking to improve his swing.

The Mets are keeping in touch with Chris Young but the oft-injured free agent wants a Major League contract.

Princeton vs. Rider: Where it takes nine years to travel 6.6 miles.

I had such a good time putting together Rutgers: Past, Present, Future last week that I decided to dig into the archives once more and pull up what I wrote the prior two times Princeton played Rider. This home and home series took place in 2001 and 2002. Full recaps of both contests can be found after the jump.
