Chris Young allowed four home runs in five innings against Los Angeles as San Diego fell 6-4. Young was lifted for pinch hitter Will Venable in the sixth. Venable grounded into a forceout to end the frame.

Will Venable had two hits in the sixth inning as San Diego batted around, erupting for six runs and defeating Arizona 6-4 in the process. Venable scored a run and drove in a run as he ended a 0-11 drought to start his major league season.
Former Princeton commitment Chris O'Brien, who later landed at the University of San Francisco, will transfer to Cal Poly.

Chris Young pitched six serviceable innings for San Diego and was robbed of a bases-clearing double by Greg Dobbs, who made an over-the-head running catch with two outs in the second inning. J.A. Happ shut out the Padres as Philadelphia picked up the 5-1 win.
Before the game, Will Venable was called up from Portland. Venable got the start in left and had a rough night, going 0-4 at the plate and dropping a fly ball for an error in the seventh.
Judson Wallace and Benetton Treviso saw their season end with a 101-76 loss to Montepaschi Siena, who advances to the Lega A Seire A championship series.
