Throwback Thursday: 1964-65.

It was getting downright embarrassing. For over a year I've had two overstuffed boxes of Bill Bradley-era magazines, cutout newspaper articles and handwritten notes staring at me from across my TV room. A site member personally delivered them all last summer and for whatever reason I couldn't bring myself to start digging into bounty so daunting.

It took Brian Earl posting a Princeton scouting report for the Tigers' Final Four team to goad me into action.

So, for this week's "Throwback Thursday" you'll find 15 different scans from the 1964-65 season taken from disparate sources. There's some pretty cool one-of-a-kind stuff alongside images and drawings you may never have seen before. Thursday News:

Find of the week goes to Brian Earl for this scouting report his father gave him of Rutgers' attempts to prepare for Bill Bradley and the rest of the 1964-1965 Princeton Tigers. Of course, Bradley scored 35 points in this game and the orange and black led by 27 at halftime. So much for scouting reports!

The Padres' season concluded last night with a 7-6 win at Milwaukee. For the year Will Venable hit .264 in 148 games (equalling his career high) with 26 doubles, eight triples, nine home runs and 24 stolen bases. His strikeout/game ratio also dropped for the third straight season.

A brief video of Armond Hill coaching the Celtics' rookies.

This is an interesting piece on recruitment battles between Georgetown and Maryland.

Mercer County Community College has posted their schedule for the upcoming season.

A Harvard basketball verbal commit will play elsewhere citing financial concerns.

Throwback Thursday: 1980s programs.

Last week's first ever "Throwback Thursday" focusing on a collection of Bill Bradley-related artifacts has inspired me to give it another go today. If anything it means that some items I've been long-overdue to file will finally get put away out of sight!

This time out we're looking at assorted early 1980s programs. A cross-section of covers, interesting photos and player profiles can be all found after the jump.

Scans from a 1980 program.

No, it isn't your monitor.

As I mentioned last month, a subscriber handed me a stack of late 1970s and early 1980s Princeton basketball programs, which I'll be scanning portions of as time allows. The plan was to do one program every seven days, but I missed last week's scheduled scan in lieu of this incredible archive of David Zeft's photographs.

Seeing how we're on the brink of this year's Dartmouth/Harvard weekend, the latest review is of a program from the same visit by these northern travel partners in 1980. That's Randy Melville on the reverse halftone cover. A curious design decision to say the least...

Scans from a 1983 program.

Rich Simkus.

As I mentioned previously, a subscriber recently handed me a stack of late 1970s and early 1980s Princeton basketball programs, which I'll be scanning portions of as time allows - hopefully one a week.

I already posted images from the 1981-82 media guide I was gifted but here's the first in this series to share.

This pair of games were significant for completely unrelated reasons, which I discuss after the jump. It is also neat to see images of players in action I've only heard tale of and some of the archival designs are a treat.

Assorted programs.

As promised (threatened?) last week, here are scans of several Jadwin Gym programs from the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Above, Kit Mueller wearing his freshman jersey number of #55 a year before he switched to the double zeros he's closely associated with.

In the first game of his sophomore season versus F&M, Mueller scored 29 points (10-13 shooting, 9-9 at the line) in 40 minutes wearing #00 for the first time - one of four Tigers to play the entire contest without relief.

Six additional covers follow after the jump.

Assorted programs.

Just when I thought I had exhausted my archival supply of Princeton programs, I unearthed another decently-sized stack. Today's images are all from the late 1990s and early 2000s. I'll scan a similar quantity from 10 years prior next week.

Above, Princeton's Players of the Century - Sandi Bittler and Bill Bradley.

Six additional covers follow after the jump, plus details about a few of these games.

Items I've been meaning to scan.

A friend donated a stack of contributions for my Princeton basketball collection. While they've been sitting at the front of my home since before I drove down to James Madison, I didn't get a chance to scan them until today.

Simple math: Exam break x snow = a morning spent scanning old Princeton programs.

Above, Chris Mooney, Laura Leacy and Mike Brennan. This game was played four days after the 25th anniversary of Jadwin Gym's opening.

Seven additional covers follow the jump, plus details about a few of these games.

Assorted programs.

Finally had the time this afternoon to scan a decent stack of Princeton basketball programs from the 1980s and 1990s, including few more players I didn't have photos of previously. Click on any and all images to enlarge.

The above is from a men's/women's basketball doubleheader to open the 1995-96 home slate. No idea whose hand that is, but it is also in color on the back of the same season's media guide.

Nine additional images after the jump.

Assorted programs.

Another stack of previously unscanned Princeton basketball programs from the 1980s and 1990s, including the above for Princeton's 1996 Ivy League playoff in Bethlehem, PA against Penn. Six additional images after the jump.

I've added a Programs category for the site this afternoon so you can go back to see past images with greater ease.
