Tuesday News:

Following up on the Harvard Crimson report from before the weekend, the Daily Princetonian polled several current and former Princeton players (as well as select luminaries from other Ivy programs) about a possible conference tournament.

Perhaps more importantly, Soft Pretzel Logic uncovered a serious error in the initial article. The current proposal would eliminate one non-conference game, not one of the 14 meetings between Ivy foes as was originally stated.

Jonathan Tannenwald also has added a quote from Penn AD Steve Bilsky since this piece was originally published.

Seems like a long shot given the sheer volume of other schools interested but a forward from Newark has the Tigers on his extensive list of suitors.

A sixth freshman-to-be has committed to play for Sydney Johnson at Fairfield.

Saturday News:

Martin Bahar was promoted from Director of Basketball Operations to assistant coach at Fairfield.

A while ago there was some discussion about a big man from South Dakota who apparently was getting a look from Princeton. You can see where he eventually signed here.

Following nine consecutive San Diego strikeouts, Will Venable hit his first home run of the season.

Georgetown's Jason Clark and Henry Sims plus Ivy Leaguers Keith Wright and Greg Mangano were all in the starting lineup of a Portsmouth Invitational semifinal game.

Thursday News:

While it has been seriously slow in the news department, this piece by my friend Tom Scharpling for The Classical re-imagining every 2012 NCAA Tournament coach (including John Thompson III) as a movie villain was too excellent to not share.

I was saddened and surprised to read in the latest Princeton Alumni Weekly about the passing of Gib Kirwin '58. A supporter of this site and a contributor to the listerv that preceded it, I was always glad to hear from him. My condolences to his family and friends.

If you play MLB 2K12 and want to add a Will Venable cyberface, this creepy link should do the trick. The real life Venable finished spring training batting .349 with nine stolen bases.

Wednesday News:

The Daily Princetonian, who in retrospect I should have awarded MOST IMPROVED COVERAGE OF THE YEAR status to in the first-annual site awards, has a lengthy piece on the legacy of (expert counter) Douglas Davis.

They also published a full transcript of their interview with Davis and count down the senior guard's top five games.

As was fully expected, Georgetown's Hollis Thompson will sign with an agent and enter the NBA Draft.

Sydney Johnson's first season at Fairfield was "not bad overall."

The Stags will be without Jamel Fields next year, as the sophomore guard has decided to transfer elsewhere.

A three point try by senior Jason Clark was off the mark at the horn and Georgetown (24-9) saw their season end with a 66-63 loss to NC State. Hoya Prospectus crunches the numbers.

Next year it appears the Hoyas will play a game on an aircraft carrier. Neat.

The campaign continues for Fairfield (21-14), who used a late second half push to defeat Manhattan 69-57 in the CIT. This sets up a "Penn vs. Princeton" meeting between Andy Toole's Robert Morris team and Sydney Johnson's Stags on Wednesday.

Remember that Fairfield CIT game I mentioned yesterday? Uh, it is actually taking place today.
