Georgetown (24-8) was solid defensively and executed well offensively in their first round NCAA Tournament game versus Belmont. Around the Ivy League: Harvard (26-5) saw their season end with a 79-70 loss to Vanderbilt. Even at 20 with 4:28 left in the first half, a needless second foul by Kyle Casey sent him to the bench and the Commodores went to intermission on a 13-3 run. While the Crimson cut an 18 point deficit down to seven late, they were unable to get closer.

It is official: The Tigers will visit Pittsburgh on Monday night in the next round of the CBI. The Panthers made 14 three pointers and defeated Wofford at home 81-63.

Ian Hummer was named second-team NABC All-District 13. The Princeton junior made ESPN's Top Plays, but not for a reason I expect he's happy with.

Fairfield (20-14) was playing lackadaisically against Yale (19-10) in the first half of their first round CIT matchup. Trailing by 13 at the break, Stags assistant coach Tony Newsom lit into his team in the locker room and the final 20 minutes were a total energy flip. Scoring 23 of the first 26 points out of intermission, Sydney Johnson's squad advanced 68-56.

On the other side of the CBI bracket, Oregon State (20-14) raced past Western Illinois, 80-59. You can see a full update of the tournament pairings here.

The Tigers have seven NCAA/NIT/CBI wins the last 15 years, more than three times as many as any other Ivy school.

Oregon State (19-14) fell 72-61 to Arizona in the Pac-12 Tournament semifinals.

I called it! Fairfield will host Yale in the CIT on Wednesday night. Stags head coach Sydney Johnson is a finalist for the Ben Jobe Award.

Denver's Joe Scott is under consideration for the 2012 Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year Award. Scott makes a compelling argument for the Pioneers' inclusion in the NIT.

Should Northwestern keep Bill Carmody? The debate begins.

A reunion between Chris Young and the New York Mets continues to look likely.

The Daily Princetonian, the Daily News and Ivy Hoops Online preview tonight's game.

The final Ivy League Men's Basketball Weekly Release of the season includes Ian Hummer on the Honor Roll.

It was looking decent for Fairfield (19-14) in the championship game of the MAAC Tournament at halftime. The Stags were up four and playing well. The second half however was a brutal defensive struggle where Sydney Johnson's team missed their first 13 attempts from the floor. Three tying shots in the final 1:08 went off the mark and it was Loyola (Md.) advancing to the NCAAs, 48-44. A postseason bid of some fashion is expected.

How about Fairfield against Yale in the CBI or CIT?

Denver (22-9) was knocked out of the Sun Belt semifinals by Western Kentucky, 67-63. Senior guard Brian Stafford had a look for three behind a screen down two with five seconds to go and Royce O'Neale's putback was then blocked. The Hilltoppers sealed the result at the line.

Richmond plays at La Salle tonight to open defense of their conference tournament title. Spiders guard Kendall Anthony is the Atlantic 10's Rookie of the Year.

Bill Carmody talks about Northwestern's NCAA chances.

The Wildcats' John Shurna was named first team All-Big Ten, finishing the season as the conference's leading scorer.

For Georgetown, a brawl in China forged their team's unity. Hoya senior Jason Clark was honored with the Big East's Sportsmanship Award.

The Ivy League is still growing.

Congratulations to Marcus Schroeder, who is headed to the NCAA tournament for the first time as Saint Mary's graduate assistant. The Gaels won the West Coast Conference tournament in overtime, knocking off Gonzaga. It was good to see a smiling Schroeder celebrating on the floor after the final buzzer.

While at Princeton, Pete Hegseth was a polarizing figure.

There are great eBay auctions full of rare memorabilia, and then there is this.

Jesse Agel is out at Brown. A decision was made to not renew his contract.

Well well well. After an 85-75 upset of top seed Iona, Sydney Johnson and Fairfield (19-13) are now 40 minutes from the NCAA Tournament. An impressive 16-1 run when trailing by six in the second half turned the game around. The MAAC final is tonight in Springfield, MA against Loyola of Maryland.

The Sun Belt Tournament bracket is in shambles with the exception of Denver (22-8). All the other top seeds fell in the quarterfinals while the Pioneers were taking care of South Alabama, 61-50. Western Kentucky awaits in the semifinals tonight.

Usually Monday belongs to the student papers around these parts, but only the Daily Princetonian (with an exceptional photograph) recounts the weekend's action.

Georgetown's Jason Clark was named first team all-Big East, with Henry Sims and Hollis Thompson also earning recognition from their conference.

Still alive! By the skin of their teeth (as if they know any other way now) Northwestern (18-12) pulled off a 70-66 win at Iowa. The Hawkeyes missed an open three pointer for the lead with six seconds to go.

At the same time Fairfield (18-13) was fending off Rider, 65-63. The Stags get top seed Iona in the MAAC semis this afternoon.

Georgetown (22-7) fell 83-69 at Marquette. With the loss the Hoyas slip to the five seed in next week's Big East Tournament. Hoya Prospectus crunches the numbers.

It was Oregon State (17-13) over Colorado, 83-69.

Denver faces South Alabama in the Sun Belt Tournament.

Around the Ivy League: Harvard (26-4 / 12-2) earned at least a share of the conference crown with a 67-63 win at Cornell (12-16 / 7-7). Penn (19-11 / 11-2) stayed a half game back by rolling Yale (19-9 / 9-5) at The Palestra, 67-48. After so many close conference losses, Columbia (15-15 / 4-10) came out on top by six over Dartmouth (5-25 / 1-13) to end the season.

A report says that Mitch Henderson's team will play at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn next season for the first ever Brooklyn Hoops Winter Hoops Festival.

Princeton recruit Steven Cook had 11 points in New Trier's regional title win versus Foreman.

It is the quarterfinals of the MACC Tournament for Fairfield who are looking to win three games in three days.

Oregon State hosts Colorado. Another CBI appearance might not cut it for the Beavers this season.

Awful news for Denver as starting guard Chase Hallam is lost for the season due to a fractured disc in his back.

Around the Ivy League: Penn (18-11 / 10-2) was eventually able to pull away from Brown (8-22 / 2-11) at The Palestra, 54-43. It took overtime for Harvard (25-4 / 11-2) to stave off Columbia (14-15 / 3-10). Chris Wroblewski set the school record for assists as Cornell (12-16 / 7-6) recorded a 70-57 triumph over Dartmouth (5-24 / 1-12).

Denver (21-8) secured the three seed in the Sun Belt Tournament with a 64-52 win over North Texas. They'll next play Sunday against either South Alabama or Troy.
