In what sounds like a very exciting game, Mercer County Community College (4-2) got past Morris 57-56. Mustafa el Amin tied the score on a three pointer with four seconds left and Barry Brockington, who was 11-14 from the line, won it for the Vikings with a free throw that came with :0.6 remaining.
Richmond (7-2) served ODU their worst-ever defeat at the Constant Center, 80-53.
Then there's Northwestern (7-2), who recorded a much-needed and very impressive 74-70 win at Baylor. It was 56-38 Wildcats with 10:25 remaining but intense pressure by the Bears and a stretch where Bill Carmody's team went 1-8 at the line closed that deficit to two. After all that - and I haven't even mentioned the twelve second sequence wherein NU committed three turnovers - Drew Crawford sealed the result with a pair of free throws as just over a second remained.
Two scores of note out of last night - Bucknell 76 Kent State 60 and Tennessee State 76 Drexel 66.
I took the train up to Madison Square Garden for the opening game of this evening's Jimmy V Classic, which saw Georgetown handle Texas by 23. Read on for some bullet point observations I jotted down while viewing the Hoyas in person for the first time this season.

Seven games in with a week off between contests seems like a decent juncture to pause, step back and examine some bigger picture facts and figures about the 2012-13 Princeton Tigers.
Mitch Henderson's 3-4 team is now halfway through their non-conference slate and some interesting trends are developing. After the jump find lengthy analysis and projections as conversation starters and add your thoughts in the comments.
Here's the latest collection of videos from various corners of the Princeton basketball family. Above, Bart Kalkstein and Michael Goldberg return to broadcasting after a two decade break.
It is behind a paywall but there's an interview with Tiger recruit Steven Cook here. Cook scored 16 in New Trier's loss to Warren.
How about a second Mid-Majority write-up of Princeton's win at Lafayette?
Just 10-20 at the free throw line, Northwestern (6-2) was surprised 50-44 by UIC as the Flames scored the game's final six points.
Richmond (6-2) won their third straight over Wake Forest.
Eight games away from home to start the season concluded for Fairfield (4-4) with a 74-55 victory at Austin Peay.

Sunday's only game of note sees Denver visiting Stanford.
Around the Ivy League: Brown (3-4) fell 63-50 at New Hampshire. It was Harvard (3-3) by nine over Fordham. Dartmouth (2-3) rallied past Longwood, 61-53. Penn State knocked off Penn (2-6) by a 58-47 final. Cornell (4-5) bested Colgate in 70-63 Ithaca. Mike Muscala had 29 points and 19 rebounds as Bucknell got past Columbia (4-4) in the final five minutes.
Every time you might pause for a second and think you've got this year's Princeton team figured out, something like tonight happens.
The Tigers built a 16-2 lead in the first nine minutes despite only one bucket from leading scorer Ian Hummer and undeterred by a pair of rough patches at the end of the first half and the middle of the second were able to record a convincing road result at Kent State.
Contributions were numerous up and down the Princeton roster, from Clay Wilson's three first half three pointers off the bench to Denton Koon's 5-5 shooting the final 20 minutes including a pair of emphatic dunks to T.J. Bray's steady team-best 15 points and six assists versus one turnover. That doesn't even include Brendan Connolly continuing to perform nicely in the post with 11.
Also surprising was a 33-27 advantage on the glass for the Tigers, who shot 11-20 from the field on either side of intermission.
“I thought the rebounding was great and the execution was great too,” said Princeton head coach Mitch Henderson.
The Golden Flashes' star senior Chris Evans did score 18 points but he needed 16 shots to get there, was 0-3 from three point range and had five turnovers.

In lieu of a Know! Your! Foe! (several reporters contacted, none responded): Kent State is the anti-Wagner in many ways. They're rather solid offensively yet weaker defensively. The Golden Flashes hold onto the basketball very nicely and are dominant on the offensive glass but seem to have their troubles defending inside the arc and forcing turnovers.
Chris Evans is their Ian Hummer, a 6'8" senior forward who leads his team in almost all available statistical categories but Evans gets serious support from classmate Randal Holt out of the backcourt. You'll see them both on the floor for most of the night and they're good for 34.1 combined points.
KSU has defeated Drexel at home and won in Nebraska's gym. Both their losses were versus KenPom Top 100 teams, Temple by 14 and Valpo in OT.

princetonbasketball.com was founded on April 28th, 1998 in an attempt to provide fans of the Princeton Tigers and Ivy League basketball with the best on-line source for up-to-date news and information. We have since expanded to launch a companion site, Georgetown Basketball News.
As these sites have continued to grow we have increased our coverage to include additional teams with Princeton connections - the Richmond Spiders, Denver Pioneers, Oregon State Beavers, Fairfield Stags and Mercer County Community College Vikings - plus former Tigers playing professional baseball and basketball all over the world. This site is not directly affiliated with the Friends of Princeton Basketball, Princeton University or the Princeton athletic department.
