Seton hall snubbed...can we dream for an in-state game at the Rock?

Jon Solomon said,

I would guess Seton Hall is either an NIT (1) or (2) seed. If the former, they'll play one of the auto qualifiers. I'm sticking with Big Apple Buckets' (3) St. Joe's hosting (6) Princeton. If not, the CBI.

On to the CBI. Too bad. I thought the Tigers deserved an NIT bid. I suspect oen more win would have done the trick.

Drexel getting a lot of love from ESPN. Too bad that one slipped away.

CIT teams include Yale and Fairfield, but not Penn or Princeton

Jon Solomon said,

There's a mad scramble by both tournaments to pick up "NIT bubble teams" right now.

CIT has more slots filled from teams who knew they weren't going to be playing in either of the other N tourneys.

They've also got more teams (32 vs. 16)...

All that said, why were Yale, which finished behind the Ps, and Fairfield picked before the Ps for the CIT?

Jon Solomon said,

David,

The CIT is considered the fourth of the four tournaments. I'm guessing Yale accepted the bid because they weren't going to the NIT and the CBI was unlikely.

Am I the only one who wonders a bit about Harvard being awarded a 12 seed. Suspect their record plus quality wins over Florida State and Boston College no doubt boosted their appeal-- but they also struggled their last four games in the league.
Granted, this question is also influenced by all those years the Ivy champion was a 15-14- or 13. What was Cornell a few years back?

Jon Solomon said,

Most knowledgable people who make mock brackets as part of their living I spoke with projected Harvard as a 9-11, so a 12 is disappointing.

NCAA doesn't look at margin of victory, so the Crimson's struggling was actually a 3-1 record with their one loss to a Top 100 RPI team in Penn.

Cornell was a 12 seed in 2010.

Pretty hard to imagine how Colorado was ahead of Harvard on the s-curve...

It is great to see that the Ivys are represented by four teams in this year's post-season tournaments. It says much about the improved stength of the league.

It would be fun to see another Princeton-Penn match-up in the CBI. I imagine Penn's hosting of Quinnipiac is based upon the school's ability to draw a larger home crowd?

Jon Solomon said,

It is based on Penn deciding they wanted to pay the $50K+ it costs to host a CBI home game, like Princeton did in 2010.

1) How are home games decided for later rounds of the CBI (is it guaranteed that Princeton won't have a home game, because we won't pay)?

2) I better get HDNet :-P

Jon Solomon said,

I believe that teams pay to host each CBI round but I'd expect the likelihood of making that money back increases with the longer lead time for a second round game.

If Wofford wins at Pitt and Princeton wins at Evansville, I have no idea where the game would be.

If you don't get HDNet (not everyone does), it is available on DirecTV.
