Thursday News:

To bide time during the offseason, ESPN devised an objective formula from which they're counting down the top 50 college basketball programs of the past 50 years. In a "now neither school's fans can argue which team is better" twist, Princeton and Penn tied for 22nd place.

Paralyzed former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand visited the Tigers yesterday during one of the team's first practices before their trip to Spain. In this picture you can see LeGrand, the Princeton coaching staff and what I believe are the 12 players who will be making the overseas trip.

Want some names to keep tabs on as possible Princeton recruits? These lists from ESPN and Scout show prospects with varying levels of interest in the Tigers.

Now batting second in the Padres' lineup, Will Venable is 10-16 at the plate in his last four games.

I can't identify which 12 are the team members going to Spain. Any help?

Players L to R:

Fabrizius (to our right of Brian Earl), Wilson, Edwards, Sherburne, Darrow, Bray, Koon, Barrett, Garbade, Hummer, Connolly, Clement (to our left of Mitch Henderson).

By rule, freshmen in the Ivy League can not go on an overseas trip that takes place before the start of their academic year.

Thanks, Jon.

No surprises except, possibly, Edwards. Happy to see Barrett back. What chance do you give Fabrizius to get any significant playing time this year? I feel like I know very little about his game. But, it is impossible to ignore his size.

Note on Basketball U site: Akron fan posted that Princeton will be playing at UA this season. Any comment?

There are 4-5 non-conference games I don't know opponents for and that would be one of them!

Akron is a very good foe. NIT team last year, return the majority of their key players.

Interesting rumored backstory here:

Fabrizius is more of a wing than a big and I'm not sure who he would get minutes in place of during 2012-13.

I noticed that UA is in the same conference as Univ of Buffalo, whom I'm assuming we play at Buffalo this season as a return match for last year's game at Jadwin (one of our few relatively high profile wins). Schedule appears to be getting more challenging.
