Lehigh vs. Columbia - 7:00 pm ET

The Home News Tribune previews tonight's game, implying that it might be the last Princeton/Rutgers game for a while. Here's text of the full interview with Sydney Johnson that Jerry Carino conducted for his piece.

Richmond (7-1) stayed perfect at home with a 67-60 win over ODU.

Denver (5-1) downed Lamar, 62-55.

Andy Katz writes that Northwestern isn't dead yet.

The Trenton Times reviews Kathy Orton's "Outside The Limelight."

Time for this week's Schuylkill 16. Princeton is in 11th place on this list of area teams.

Around the Ivy League: Cornell (6-2) got 28 points and 18 boards from Jeff Foote, survived a three point shot at the end of regulation and defeated Bucknell 104-98 in overtime. Michael Sands' dunk with two seconds left provided Yale (3-5) with their margin of victory in a 48-46 decision at Hartford. Harvard (6-1) is off to their best start in 25 years, running past Rice, 85-64. Behind 19 points from Robby Pride, Brown (4-5) surrendered the last eight points of regulation and lost to Holy Cross in OT by six.

Is it that Rutgers does not want to play Princeton at all or that Rutgers does not want to play a home-and-home series with Princeton? I assume that the other NJ mid-majors always play at the RAC.
It is a shame that there is no longer much interest in what once was a real rivalry.

Brian,

This was the first mention I had seen in print recently (there have been rumors that the series would not continue for the last decade+).

I'll try to find out more.

Jon

As a follow up to Cal discussion about clock milking, here are the tempo stats for the Princeton-tree teams to date with their ranking among the 347 Division I teams. The D-1 average tempo is 68.7 possessions.
Raw Tempo Stats from Pomeroy:

216 Richmond 67.4 possessions per game
249 Oregon State 64.9
303 Princeton 64.3
304 Georgetown 64.3
327 Northwestern 62.6
331 Denver 62.3

Richmond's average is inflated by an 81-possession game against VMI, the fastest tempo team in Division I. In their wins over Miss. State and Missouri, Richmond slowed down to 57 & 58 possessions.
Oregon State games have had extra possessions because they commit way too many turnovers - 28.9% of their possessions.
Princeton has ranged from 57 possessions (CMU) to 69 (Army). PU & Army both added possessions by committing a lot of turnovers.
Georgetown had 4 games between 58 and 65 possessions and then a 74 possession game against Mount St. Mary's.
Northwestern's games ranged from 59 to 68 possessions. They are in one of those streaks where if they score 60 points they win.
Denver had two 54-possession games and three in the low 60s, but an unbelievable 81-possession game against Wyoming. I would not have imagined a Joe Scott team with 81 possessions, but a look at the box score shows the teams combined for 65 fouls, 94 free throws, and 46 turnovers, so there were not many long possessions between whistles.

As of halftime of the rutgers game, Buczak is now shooting under 30% from inside the arc for the season. This cannot continue.
