C. Young (8-3) - 7.0 IP 5 H 0 ER 0 BB 9 K 2.00 ERA. 104 pitches, 72 strikes.
Chris Young said after Wednesday's game that his performance wasn't a statement, but another seven shutout innings to aid the Padres in an eventual 1-0 victory over Florida certainly didn't hurt his cause.
For the sixth time in the first half of the 2007 season, Young pitched seven or more innings without giving up an earned run. He leads the league in this category. Young lowered his ERA to 2.00, tied for best in all of baseball.
With less than eight hours to go, Young has a slim lead in the NL's Final Vote. The polls close at 6:00 pm ET today, so keep voting! While Young hasn't been voting for himself, his fellow Padres have been going all-out to send him to San Francisco.
Will Venable was 1-4 with his second regular-season home run of the year as San Antonio defeated Tulsa 3-1.
Don't forget to vote for Chris Young!
