Playing excellent team defense and behind 28 points from Kevin Anderson, Richmond (6-1) took down #8 Purdue in the finals of the Chicago Invitational.

Austin Freeman tied a school record with seven three pointers and Georgetown (6-0) stayed undefeated with an 87-72 win over UNC-Ashville.

Denver (1-5) lost 65-52 at Boise State.

Northwestern hosts Creighton tonight.

Around the Ivy League: Brown (3-2) lost to New Hampshire on a layup with 2.8 seconds remaining. All five starters reached double figures as Yale (2-3) beat Army 87-79 in the Bulldogs' home opener. Dartmouth (2-4) defeated winless Colgate, 80-63. Cornell (2-4) fell 66-61 at Boston University. Pitt trounced Penn (2-3) by 24.

This will be a tough matchup for Princeton. I saw Siena beat Rider Friday night, and it is a much better team than its record suggests. It lost three starters from a year ago, but it still has size, speed, good outside shooting and depth.
In second half Friday, Siena completely shut off Rider's inside game while covering Rider's outside threats like a glove. Clarence Jackson shut down Rider's leading scorer and Siena's three bigs - all 6-9 - kept Rider's slashers away from the rim.
If Princeton prevails today, it will be a huge win -- and, in my view, a big surprise.
