NJ Hoops is reporting and princetonbasketball.com can confirm that Hun School senior point guard Doug Davis has committed to Princeton, pending admission. We spoke with Hun basketball coach Jonathan Stone this morning to get more information on Doug.
Stone described his point guard as "very smooth and an outstanding shooter...[he] has the ability to control the tempo of the game."
The 5"11", 155 lb Davis was praised by his coach for "his ability to make big shots...offensively he's very well put together...espescially in transition."
"His ability to be a true point guard is one of his greatest strengths," added Stone. "He's not huge in stature, but he does have the quickness to make up for that."
Davis averaged 10.0 points per game this season for Hun and grabbed three rebounds per game. Davis shot 40% from three point range and led his team in steals.
Stone also spoke highly of Davis as a person, describing him as "very likable" and "a person of very high character."
Davis's commitment may complete Sydney Johnson's first recruiting class.
Here are some other quotes about the newest Tiger:
Jay Gomes wrote that "[Davis has] excellent stroke from three point range as well as good pull-up jumper."
CAA Insider said in May 2007: "He has a very smooth jump shot that he can knock down from anywhere up to three point range."
Slam Online had this description from the Primetime Shootout: "[D]id an excellent job of blending distributing and scoring. He has a pure jumper, good basketball IQ and has a great handle and sense of tempo."
Finally, a Princeton Packet write-up on Davis from earlier this year.
