Wednesday News:

C. Young (4-4) - 5.1 IP 1 H 2 ER 5 BB 5 K 4.06 ERA. 98 pitches, 55 strikes.

Chris Young left the Shea Stadium mound with a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, but the Padres bullpen could not hold the Mets in a 6-5 loss.

Is Ian Hummer headed to Princeton? I95Ballerz is coy with their non-answer.

The Office of Health Professions Advising and Rockefeller College were visited by Dr. Gabe Lewullis back in April.

Got to see Chris from a dozen rows back of the Mets' on-deck circle.

It's astonishing his pitching line was as good as it was. He did not break 88 on the Shea radar gun all night. Very consistently 86-88. He only threw a couple of curves and a couple of sliders and was not throwing for strikes...so basically he did it with one pitch.

This was a typical C.Y. game, going deep into counts, a high number of walks, a good number of strikeouts, and a resulting high pitch count. In contrast, Pelfrey has figured out how to throw strikes without getting shelled.

The one hit he gave up was Tatis' first homer, in the 4th. Before that, though, he looked very good striking out Delgado and Beltran in succession.

Long-term, if he can be this effective with fewer pitches, he will be an elite pitcher. If not, he will still be a pretty good 6-inning guy.
