Chris Young finished his season with a victory over Pittsburgh. Young improved to 4-0 with a 1.51 ERA against the team that drafted him.
Will Venable was one of Padres manager Bud Black's "pleasant surprises" in 2008.
The New York Times reports that Harvard coach Tommy Amaker has cut five returning players from the Crimson roster.
