Coach Mitch Henderson - 12/21/11.

With practice concluded and a bus waiting outside to take the team up to Albany, Tigers head coach Mitch Henderson and princetonbasketball.com editor Jon Solomon sat down in the Princeton halftime room this afternoon to record a conversation.

Henderson and Solomon first reviewed a pair of road victories at Rider and Northeastern in detail. They also previewed Princeton's next three matchups in a seven game road trip at Siena, Florida State and Florida A&M.

This exclusive Q&A is 11:00+ in length.

Conssidering that the Northeastern coach made the same point that I have--that a long-armed team like Princeton is especially well-suited to play zone defense--maybe the Tigers should mix it in more. Especially if they're having problems guarding the post in man-to-man. But anything that gets them to D up right off the opening tap would be welcome.

Also good to hear Mitch's assessment of "The Mack-chine." It seems like a lot of guys on the team have been learning how to use their skills to assert themselves in filling necessary team roles. Bray and Darrow productively using possessions that last year belonged to Mavrides and Maddox, Koon giving a kinetic boost off the bench, Barrett eventually playing his X-factor role, and Connolly gaining confidence in the low post at both ends--all very promising. If they can keep improving (and key guys stay healthy), they'll have an excellent shot at the Ivy title.
